Rights and Permissions Error on Mac OS X Tiger
Issue: some Tiger OS users experience trouble saving a file with the trial version due to certain "rights and permissions".
Resolve: create a "root" login space and operate the trial from that login. Since the "root" has no restrictions you can easily grab files from any folder in any login space (see instructions below).
*The full dongle version can be worked from any login space with any Apple OS. (10.2 through 10.5)
How to create a "Root" login space:
- From the Finder’s "Go Menu" choose "Utilities".
- Locate and launch the "Netinfo Manager".
- Locate the Security Menu at the "top of your computer screen", not in the "local" window you see on the screen.
- Choose Authenticate and Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
- Click the Security Menu again and choose "Enable Root User"
- Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.
- Log out, choose "other" from the list of users and login as a root user using "root" as the "name" and the new "password" you just assigned.
- You can access any file from any user space in your computer. There are no folder restrictions for the "root" user. Drag your RGB tif file to the "root user" desktop. This works even better if you are using the operating systems "fast user switching" option.
- Launch SPVR, open the TIFF file and enjoy using SPVR.
